LEAVE BEHIND DEVASTATION ACROSS THE ISLAND

DANVILLE, VA. (August 15, 2023) – God’s Pit Crew will once again be partnering with Operation Compassion – a ministry of blessing based in Cleveland, Tennessee, with a strong presence in crisis relief efforts – in order to transport much needed relief supplies to the Hawaiian island, Maui.

A full semi-load of Blessing Buckets, which are five-gallon buckets containing non-perishable food, water, hygiene items, first-aid kits, Bibles, and handwritten notes of encouragement, will soon be leaving the God’s Pit Crew warehouse in Danville, Virginia, and travelling a long distance to Maui County, Hawaii.  To get there, though, the supplies will first travel to Operation Compassion headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee, where they will then be coordinated and shipped to the Hawaiian island.  Finally, the product will be distributed on the ground to those so terribly devastated by the fires.

God’s Pit Crew President Randy Johnson spoke of the efforts to get product into the distraught area.  “We just kept hitting roadblocks when trying to find a way to get product into the affected area,” said Johnson.  “We were told that the main port in Maui took a major hit in the disaster, so product now has to be sent to the other side of the island and trucked over to where it is so desperately needed.”

God’s Pit Crew has a longstanding relationship with Operation Compassion spanning over 20 years, and the two ministries have partnered together on previous responses, as well.  “Operation Compassion has representatives on the ground in Maui and will be able to get the relief supplies into the hands of those that need it most,” explained Johnson.

The scope of the damage and loss in Maui is truly hard to comprehend.  God’s Pit Crew will continue to be in prayer for all those affected by the wildfires and will continue to monitor the situation.  Since the beginning of the year, God’s Pit Crew has responded to more than 10 disaster situations throughout the country and delivered over 14,000 Blessing Buckets to disaster victims.

GOD’S PIT CREW SENDING MUCH NEEDED SUPPLIES TO MONTPELIER, VERMONT AFTER CATASTROPHIC FLOODING IN NORTHEAST https://godspitcrew.org/gods-pit-crew-sending-much-needed-supplies-to-montpelier-vermont-after-catastrophic-flooding-in-northeast/ Tue, 22 Aug 2023 22:06:06 +0000 https://godspitcrew.org/?p=11517 GOD’S PIT CREW SENDING MUCH NEEDED SUPPLIES TO MONTPELIER, VERMONT AFTER
CATASTROPHIC FLOODING IN NORTHEAST

DANVILLE, VA. (July 14, 2023) Relief efforts provided by God’s Pit Crew are now on the way to Montpelier, Vermont, following catastrophic damage left behind by torrential flooding in the Northeast.

A full semi-load of Blessing Buckets, which are five-gallon buckets containing non-perishable food, water, hygiene items, first-aid kits, Bibles, and handwritten notes of encouragement, recently left the God’s Pit Crew warehouse in Danville, Virginia, and is traveling nearly 15 hours north to the small Vermont town – and is scheduled to arrive by early Saturday morning.  Once there, the supplies will be distributed by the City of Montpelier to anyone in need.

Along with the Blessing Buckets, various cleaning supply items and pallets of Gatorade will also be included in the relief supply delivery.  God’s Pit Crew also plans to send staff and volunteers of the Immediate Disaster Response Team to Vermont in the coming weeks in order to further help victims.  This crew will work to clear debris, remove trees, and muck out and dry flood affected homes.

“This area has been hit by intense rain, with more in the forecast” remarked Chris Chiles, God’s Pit Crew Immediate Disaster Response coordinator.  “We are praying for all those who have been impacted, and we are so grateful to be able to send relief supplies and helping hands.”

God’s Pit Crew President, Randy Johnson, says he hopes that the relief supplies being sent will be a way to bring hope and healing to the region.  “The recent flooding in the Northeast has been devastating and heartbreaking,” stated Johnson.  “We pray that the help and supplies our ministry is sending will bring much needed relief to all those affected, and we truly appreciate all of the wonderful volunteers and donors that make our response possible.”

GOD’S PIT CREW REDEPLOYS TO CALIFORNIA TO REBUILD FOUR HOMES FOR FAMILIES AFFECTED BY CATASTROPHIC FLOODING EARLIER THIS YEAR https://godspitcrew.org/pond-ca-rebuild-project/ Mon, 10 Jul 2023 15:03:58 +0000 https://godspitcrew.org/?p=11382 GOD’S PIT CREW REDEPLOYS TO CALIFORNIA TO REBUILD FOUR HOMES FOR FAMILIES AFFECTED BY CATASTROPHIC FLOODING EARLIER THIS YEAR

DANVILLE, VA. (July 10, 2023) – Four families in Pond, California, will soon be able to move back into their homes after being displaced from devastating floods in March earlier this year.  God’s Pit Crew redeployed to Kern County, California, on July 7, with plans to remain until Friday, July 28, with the four home reveals tentatively scheduled for that afternoon.

A team of God’s Pit Crew staff and volunteers, as well as local volunteers in the Pond area, have recently begun work on rebuilding and remodeling homes that were greatly impacted by flood waters that tore through the area earlier this spring.  Following the initial flooding, God’s Pit Crew’s Immediate Response team helped flood victims by mucking out and drying homes and training local volunteers on how to effectively respond to flooding disasters.

During this visit, staff and volunteers are installing all new insulation, sheetrock, doors, cabinets, flooring, bathroom fixtures, electrical fixtures, and more.  The homes will also receive fresh paint and new appliances to finish out the remodel process.

To see this project come full circle has been an awe-inspiring moment for Chris Chiles, Immediate Disaster Response Coordinator for God’s Pit Crew.  “When we first responded to this devastated area in March, we knew we had to help these people as much as possible,” said Chiles.  “We are blessed with a group of talented volunteers and staff who are ready to help these people move back home.”

Randy Johnson, president of God’s Pit Crew, hopes this will allow these families to find peace moving forward.  “Our hearts were broken for everyone in California when they were affected by the devastating flooding earlier this year,” said Johnson.  “The ministry of God’s Pit Crew is so blessed to be able to provide hope and help in these situations.”

Along with helping remodel these four homes, God’s Pit Crew has built two other homes so far this year with two more builds scheduled for September in Rolling Fork, Mississippi.  The organization has also responded to nine disaster situations since the start of the year and delivered over 50 tractor-trailer loads of relief supplies.

Johnson says that the organization is grateful for everyone who makes responding to disaster situations a possibility.  “Thank you to everyone who helps us in providing assistance in times of disaster,” remarked Johnson.  “Projects like this wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for our amazing volunteers, donors, and supporters.”

God’s Pit Crew representatives will be onsite in Pond, California, until the home reveal on Friday, July 28.

GOD’S PIT CREW SENDING SECOND SEMI-LOAD OF RELIEF SUPPLIES TO DEVASTATED TEXAS TOWN FOLLOWING DEADLY TORNADO OUTBREAK https://godspitcrew.org/perryton-tx-update/ Tue, 20 Jun 2023 13:45:27 +0000 https://godspitcrew.org/?p=11354 GOD’S PIT CREW SENDING SECOND SEMI-LOAD OF RELIEF SUPPLIES TO DEVASTATED TEXAS TOWN FOLLOWING DEADLY TORNADO OUTBREAK

DANVILLE, VA. (June 19, 2023) – As stories of survival and devastation continue to pour out of the small town of Perryton, Texas, God’s Pit Crew is responding again with more relief items for victims of last week’s deadly tornado outbreak.

Following the first load of relief items that left the Danville, Virginia, based God’s Pit Crew headquarters on Saturday, June 17, a second full semi-load of supplies is scheduled to arrive in Texas by Wednesday, June 21.  This second haul of relief items will include approximately 64 generators, multiple pallets of Gatorade, and a second-round of Blessing Buckets – which are five-gallon buckets containing non-perishable food, water, hygiene items, first-aid kits, Bibles, and handwritten notes of encouragement.

The supplies will be sent to Grace Creek Church located at 1500 West Hawkins Parkway in Longview, Texas.  Volunteers will be onsite to distribute the items to those affected by the catastrophic storm.

With widespread property damage, loss of life, and the threat of more severe weather possibly set to fall upon the already affected Texas panhandle area, God’s Pit Crew President Randy Johnson says the organization is continuing to provide assistance by way of relief supply donations.

“We hurt for all those who have been impacted by this deadly storm, and we are praying for everyone in that area.  We are so grateful to be able to provide tractor-trailer loads of supplies and Blessing Buckets to help, and that wouldn’t be possible without the amazing donors and volunteers that support our ministry,” remarked Johnson.

God’s Pit Crew has served disaster victims across the country over the past several months.  As the team continues to make plans to rebuild and repair several homes in Pond, California, following horrific flooding earlier this year, other members are hard at work preparing for upcoming home builds scheduled to take place in Rolling Fork, Mississippi, this September.  These rebuilds are in response to the devastating tornado outbreak that happened in late March.

GOD’S PIT CREW SENDING MUCH-NEEDED SUPPLIES TO PERRYTON, TEXAS, AFTER DESTRUCTIVE TORNADO TEARS THROUGH TOWN https://godspitcrew.org/perryton-tx-response/ Mon, 19 Jun 2023 16:18:03 +0000 https://godspitcrew.org/?p=11348 GOD’S PIT CREW SENDING MUCH-NEEDED SUPPLIES TO PERRYTON, TEXAS, AFTER DESTRUCTIVE TORNADO TEARS THROUGH TOWN

DANVILLE, VA. (June 17, 2023) – Relief efforts provided by God’s Pit Crew will soon be on the way to the small town of Perryton, Texas, following catastrophic damage left behind from a tornado which ravaged the area late Thursday afternoon leaving behind hundreds of damaged homes and loss of life.

A full semi-load of Blessing Buckets, which are five-gallon buckets containing non-perishable food, water, hygiene items, first-aid kits, Bibles, and handwritten notes of encouragement, will soon be leaving the God’s Pit Crew warehouse in Danville, Virginia, and traveling 1,400 miles to the small Texas town.  Once there, the supplies will be distributed at the Community Worship Center by volunteers with the Mercy Chefs organization.

Along with the Blessing Buckets, Play Pails assembled specifically for children will also be on-hand.  The Play Pails contain toys and activities, hygiene products, water, snack foods, and other essential items that are carefully chosen to help care for a child’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs after a natural disaster.  A recent grant provided to God’s Pit Crew by The NASCAR Foundation, a charity whose mission is to improve the lives of children who need it most in communities across the nation, made it possible to have over 1,000 Play Pails already assembled and ready for distribution.

Early Friday morning, God’s Pit Crew’s Immediate Response Coordinator, Chris Chiles, was able to speak with an official onsite of the tornado and learn the severity of the situation.  “It’s just complete devastation,” remarked Chiles.  “Power lines are down, trees are down, and this town sadly appears like it’s been wiped off the map.”

God’s Pit Crew hopes that the relief supplies being sent will help the people of Perryton remember that they are not alone in this dark time, though.  “People across the world are praying for everyone affected by this tornado,” said Randy Johnson, president of God’s Pit Crew.  “Our organization and ministry is blessed that God works through us to assist in these difficult times.”

Since the beginning of the year, God’s Pit Crew has responded to seven disaster situations throughout the country and delivered over 10,000 Blessing Buckets to disaster victims.

GOD’S PIT CREW BEGINS HOME REBUILD FOR TENNESSEE FAMILY DEVASTATED BY FLOODS https://godspitcrew.org/nunnelly-tn-build-project/ Tue, 13 Jun 2023 13:28:13 +0000 https://godspitcrew.org/?p=11331 DANVILLE, VA. (June 13, 2023)– God’s Pit Crew is delivering hope, healing, and restoration as they deploy to middle Tennessee to rebuild a home for the Ellis family, who lost everything in the catastrophic flooding that occurred in August of 2021.

A team of God’s Pit Crew staff and volunteers left the headquarters in Danville, Virginia, on Sunday, June 11, to travel to Davidson County, Tennessee, with all the materials needed to rebuild and fully furnish a new home for the Ellis family who has been displaced since the flooding occurred almost two years ago.  The team plans to remain until Friday, June 23, with the home reveal tentatively slated for that morning.

“We lost our house.  We lost all our content inside and out.  All our tools and lawn equipment. We lost both vehicles. Very little was salvaged,” Vickie Ellis said while recounting the impact the flood had on her family.

“We lost our home that day. We lost our hearts that day. We lost our peace of mind that day. We lost everything we have ever worked toward that day.”

Randy Johnson, president of God’s Pit Crew, hopes this home will not only be a blessing for the Ellis family but that it will remind the people of Waverly, Tennessee, that they have not been forgotten.

“Our hearts were broken for everyone in Tennessee when they were affected by the devastating flooding two summers ago,” said Johnson.  “We want the people to know that they have not been forgotten, and that hope and help are still out there for them.  We’re still here for them and praying for them.”

This is the second home that has been built so far in 2023, and two other rebuilds will take place later this year in Rolling Fork, Mississippi.  Johnson says they are grateful for everyone who makes projects like this home rebuild possible.

“Thank you to everyone who helps us in providing hope, healing, and restoration to hurting people in their times of need,” remarked Johnson. “Projects like this wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for our wonderful volunteers, donors, and supporters.”

God’s Pit Crew will be onsite in Nunnelly, Tennessee, until the home reveal on Friday, June 23, and will be joined by NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Jeb Burton and former NASCAR Cup Series driver and Daytona 500 winner Ward Burton.  The two drivers are tentatively scheduled to be helping with the home build prior to the upcoming NASCAR event weekend taking place at nearby Nashville Superspeedway.

A lady in our church was in need of food and we were able to supply all she needed.

People call us quite a bit in need of food and we can supply them because of God’s Pit Crew.

We have used Band-Aids for our Academy and our Daycare. At one time we received first-aid kits which were put to good use.

We have been able to help so many of the people in our church and also in our community its to many to count or to mention. Abundant Life Church is ever so grateful to God’s Pit Crew.  We thank you and speak for all the people we have have helped because of you.

You have been such a blessing to us in providing drinks and mixed pallets.

Our food distributions are a little different from others as we do a drive through food pantry and we receive food items from 10 different vendors and combine the items we receive into organized bags for the families.

Here is a response from one of the families we assisted twice in October:

“Thank you so much” she said. “We currently have 9 people in our home and right now we have nothing to eat.” “All of my siblings are living with me right now.” “You are such a blessing to us.” “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

3 Homes, 3 Families, 3 Weeks https://godspitcrew.org/3-homes-simultaneously/ Wed, 19 Apr 2023 20:26:37 +0000 https://godspitcrew.org/?p=11125 Imagine everything you’ve worked for your entire life gone in seconds. You are clinging to your loved ones, afraid of the worst. For three families, this nightmare was their reality.

“I’ve seen a lot of different tornados, I’ve seen a lot of devastation, but nothing like the tornado that went through Mayfield, Kentucky,” said Brandon Nuckles, chief operating officer for God’s Pit Crew.

During the same December 2021 tornado outbreak that destroyed the Hardin and Vanover family homes, three more towns were heavily damaged or destroyed by tornadoes.

After interviewing multiple families, our founders knew we had to help more families that lost everything.

God’s Pit Crew made a promise of faith and committed to taking on its most significant building project to date – three home builds simultaneously in three different cities and two states. Our Rebuild teams took on the challenge, and in just three weeks in August, three deserving families got the keys to their brand-new homes.
